Position Sizing & Risk
How much to put on, and where the line is
Position Size & Risk
Sizing
Works out how many shares to buy so a stop-out costs exactly your chosen % of capital β not a guess, not "round numbers". Quantity is also capped at what your capital can actually afford, even on very tight stops.

Risk : Reward
R-Multiple
Compares how much you're risking (entry to stop) against how much you stand to make (entry to target), as a multiple β a 2R setup means the reward is twice the risk. Also shows the win rate you'd need just to break even at that ratio.

Hard Cap
A hard cap, not a suggestion β the most shares you should ever hold in one name given your risk ceiling, capped again by what your account can actually afford.

Trade Expectancy
Edge
The average βΉ you'd expect to make (or lose) per trade over a long run of them, given your win rate and typical win/loss size. This is the single number that tells you whether a strategy has a real edge.

Expectancy per tradeβΉ0
Expectancy in Rβ
Formula: Expectancy = (Win Rate Γ Avg Win) β (Loss Rate Γ Avg Loss). Positive means the strategy makes money on average per trade, before charges.

Drawdown & Recovery
Peak-to-Trough
Shows how far your capital has fallen from its peak, and the bigger % gain you now need just to get back to even. A 50% loss needs a 100% gain to recover, not 50%.
Gain needed to recoverβ
A 20% drawdown needs a 25% gain to recover; a 50% drawdown needs 100%. That asymmetry is why position sizing matters more than any single trade.
What it takes to get back to evenβ
Sharpe Ratio
Risk-Adjusted
Measures return per unit of volatility β a high average return earned with wild swings scores lower than the same return earned smoothly. Paste period returns; higher Sharpe generally means a steadier ride.
